On December 13, 2014, I wrote the following words in my journal in the midst of an excruciating battle with bitterness and pain:
I’m realizing that He has loved me all along. Has been with me every day, especially the dark ones. He never abandons His children. He will always keep His promise of His presence. You don’t make and keep that promise out of obligation but out of love. Deep, abiding, unwavering love. Will I ever truly grasp the depths of His love?
One of my dearest friends said to me this week, “I know everything that happened in this book, but while I was reading it, I still felt like I was sneaking into your house and reading your diary. You put your whole self into this book.” I did put my whole self into this book–so much so that I have a bit of an oversharing hangover right now. But I did that so you that you could relate to the internal struggle to believe that God is really enough when our hopes are deferred. The truth is, He will always be enough.
